Newsletter 8-11-17

Our Weekly Learning
August 11, 2017
News and Information
Wow!  What a busy first week we have had!  We had a great first few days and I have enjoyed getting to know all of the kids in my class!  Please make sure your child gets plenty of rest this weekend -- we have another fun filled week of learning ahead!

  • Don’t forget to turn in your child’s information forms if you haven’t already.

  • With the first week under our belts, I have come to realize that the kids are starving by lunch time each day :).  Therefore, I would like to provide the kids with a small snack each day if possible.  I plan to pass out a few crackers or such mid-morning to those who want it--not a designated “snack time”.  If you would like to help out, please feel free to send in the following type snacks: pretzels, cheez-its, animal crackers, goldfish…

  • I am working on setting up my classroom blog.  If I have your e-mail address (from the Back-To-School Info. Sheet at Open House), I will be subscribing you to it in the next week or so.  Please be looking for an email from “Feedburner”-- you will need to click on the link in the email to subscribe.  If you checked that you need paper copies, I will be sure to send home all information with your child on paper.
Next Week
Next week we will be focusing on reviewing important key concepts from Kindergarten.  We will also start our “First 20 Days” of Reading and Writing Workshop to help set up routines and expectations for these important learning times in our classroom.  We will also start our first theme: “Friendship”.  Another focus for next week is to start building reading stamina!

Don’t forget to check your child’s blue folder daily for important papers coming home.
Important Dates

August 28-Sept. 1: NWEA Testing
September 4: Labor Day (No School)

Thank you to everyone who was able to make it to Open House.  It was nice to meet my students and their families prior to the first day of school!
